Sarasota County is seeking a Transportation Equipment Operator to operate heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, graders, backhoes, and other large vehicles. The role includes concrete and asphalt work, road maintenance, and traffic control duties in compliance with DOT standards.
Starting pay is $22.14 per hour (Step 1). A Florida CDL Class A with Tanker endorsement and a valid FL license are required at hire. Monday–Friday schedule with on-call responsibilities.

Operates heavy equipment, including dozers (D4 or larger), front-end loaders (1.5 cubic yards or larger), motor graders, backhoes (1 cubic yard or larger), transport vehicles, long-arm mowers (23" or larger), grapple trucks, Gradall hydraulic excavators, and various trucks, tandems, and tractors with a GVW greater than 28,000 pounds, as well as other large and complex equipment.
Monday - Friday, 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (On-call required).
Position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. Failure to pass the required drug screening test disqualifies the applicant from employment for five years.
Starting pay is $22.14 per hour (Step 1). Higher pay steps are available for employees with additional experience.
