Job summary

Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas is seeking a Road Maintenance Worker/Crew Leader to maintain roads and bridges on the reservation and county routes. The role involves operating heavy equipment, patching potholes, repairing guard rails, and performing related tasks with a focus on safety and efficiency.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of experience operating heavy‑duty machinery, with preferred background in pavement marking or highway construction.

Qualifications

• Shall have strong safety knowledge and operate heavy equipment with care.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English; communicate clearly.
• Mathematical skills for time-keeping and measurements.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy machinery to repair and maintain roads and bridges on tribal and county roads.
• Patch pavement, repair guard rails, reflectors and signs as needed.
• Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs on equipment.
• Provide traffic control and ensure work-zone safety for the public and crew.
• Lead a small crew, assign tasks, review work, and coordinate daily activities.
• Follow tribal policies, safety procedures, and report unsafe conditions.
