Job summary

BerQ RNG is hiring a full-time Plant Operator in Kalamazoo, Michigan to operate and maintain our RNG facility. You will ensure safe, compliant plant up-time, perform startup/shutdowns, and coordinate maintenance with engineering to sustain product quality.

We seek candidates with strong mechanical and electrical skills, safety awareness, and the ability to troubleshoot issues independently. On-call availability, plus growth opportunities and a supportive team, are offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or coursework preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and electrical experience.
• Experience operating and maintaining industrial equipment, preferably in renewable energy or wastewater sectors.
• Knowledge of RNG production processes and equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical issues independently.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to be on call and respond after-hours, including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, operate, adjust and repair digester and RNG upgrading equipment to maximize gas production safely and compliantly.
• Execute startup and shutdown procedures for RNG production systems per safety and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with engineering to optimize production processes and implement efficiency improvements.
• Conduct routine quality checks and tests on manure and product gas to meet specifications.
• Maintain and coordinate maintenance on plant equipment to minimize downtime.
• Uphold safety protocols and promote a safety-focused culture among the team.
• Maintain accurate operation records and maintenance logs.
• Respond to emergencies following established protocols to protect personnel and facility.
