Job summary

OPAL Fuels is hiring a Plant Operator in Manassas, VA to join the Operations department and help safely operate a Renewable Natural Gas facility. You will monitor equipment, record production data, and support maintenance tasks to maximize uptime.

The position requires good mechanical skills, basic electrical knowledge, and the ability to work 40–50 hours per week, including some nights and weekends. A valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; skilled in recordkeeping.
• General troubleshooting abilities.
• Must read and write well.
• Computer skills (MS Office).
• Must possess good mechanical skills.
• Basic electrical knowledge preferred.
• Self-motivated with minimal supervision.
• Working knowledge of pressure, vacuum, and flow.
• Experience with pumps, blowers, or air compressors.
• Gas reciprocating or screw compressor experience helpful.
• Must have a current and valid driver’s license, without any restrictions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain detailed production records.
• Check operating equipment daily.
• Perform maintenance on plant equipment.
• Participate in preventative maintenance outages.
• Maintain cleanliness around the plant.
• Keep oil from accumulating on unit skids and floors.
• Keep weeds and shrubs cleaned from the plant yard.
• Keep equipment and floors presentable.
• Stock and organize on-site parts and supplies.
• Maintain plant inventory.
• Respond to call outs promptly.
• Identify and fix causes of call outs; escalate if needed.
• Take readings and adjust landfill gas wells.
• Support landfill well maintenance.
• Support Virtual Pipeline compressors and truck filling.
• Operate with safety focus.
• Clean up spills immediately.
• Ensure lighting; no hazards persist.
• Ensure visitors follow safe practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
