Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in the Clackamas area of Oregon is hiring an experienced Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) for a full-time, on-site position. The RNFA will work with surgeons and the surgical team to provide advanced perioperative care, preoperative planning, intraoperative assistance, and postoperative evaluation.

The role requires an AORN-recognized RNFA course, Oregon RN licensure, CNOR/BLS, and strong perioperative experience. On-call rotations are included in the responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Two years perioperative scrubbing and circulating experience in Kaiser Permanente OR or RNFA experience
• AORN-recognized RNFA course meeting standards
• Current Oregon RN license
• Operating Room Nursing Certificate and current BLS
• Maintain CNOR certification and RN licensure with ongoing education

Responsibilities

• Preoperative assessment and planning with surgical team
• Provide technical assistance to surgeons during procedures per AORN/Oregon standards
• Assist with tissue handling, exposure, and instrument use
• Perform clamping, cutting, ligating, and suturing as directed
• Prepare operating room, instruments, and equipment
• Assist with patient positioning, draping and transfers
• Support anesthesia team during induction and preoperative briefings
• Monitor sterile technique and correct breaks in sterility
• Assist with postoperative dressings and transfers
• Maintain communication with surgical team and continuity of care
• Participate in regional on-call rotation for elective/urgent cases
