Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in Oregon is seeking an RN First Assistant (RNFA) to support the surgical team across intra-operative phases. The role collaborates with surgeons and care teams to assess, plan, direct, and evaluate advanced nursing care during procedures.

Participation in on-call rotation for elective, emergent, and urgent cases is included. Ideal candidates have RNFA credentials, CNOR eligibility or certification, and BLS; ACLS preferred on hire.

Qualifications

• Minimum two (2) years peri-operative scrubbing and circulating experience in a KP OR or one (1) year RNFA experience.
• Certification of Completion from AORN RNFA course and completion of an RNFA program meeting AORN education standards.
• Must maintain CNOR and RN licensure with Continuing Education.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon intra-operatively using instruments and devices per protocol.
• Provide hemostasis, clamp, cut, and ligate tissue as directed by the surgeon.
• Suture as directed by the surgeon during operative procedures.
• Prepare and position patient; assist with room setup and turnover.
