Job summary

Elderwood in Burlington, VT is seeking an experienced RN Unit Manager to provide clinical and operational leadership for a nursing unit. You will partner with the DON, ADON, and inter-disciplinary team to strengthen resident outcomes while maintaining support from Elderwood’s leadership resources.

The role includes 24-hour oversight with a day-shift focus and opportunities for professional growth within a larger clinical organization.

Qualifications

• Current Vermont RN license or eligibility.
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience.
• At least 1 year of nursing leadership or supervisory experience.
• Experience or genuine passion for caring for older adults; dementia care a plus.
• BSN preferred and strong leadership/communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide 24-hour oversight of your assigned nursing unit.
• Supervise, coach, and develop nursing staff with focus on CNA support and performance.
• Set clear expectations for care delivery, accountability, and teamwork.
• Oversee development, implementation, and evaluation of resident care plans.
• Monitor clinical indicators and address resident needs proactively.
• Ensure documentation, infection control, and regulatory compliance.
• Communicate changes in condition and care plans with families and physicians.
• Manage daily staffing, call-ins, and scheduling; participate in hiring and staff development.
