Job summary

Acacia Care Rehab and Nursing Center in West Orange, NJ is seeking an experienced RN Unit Manager to lead the nursing team and collaborate with the DON and ADON to uphold high standards of resident care.

You will oversee daily operations, supervise staff, manage staffing, and participate in interdisciplinary care planning and quality initiatives. This role requires physician collaboration, coaching, and weekend/holiday coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in New Jersey.
• 3+ years of supervisory experience in a hospital, nursing facility, or similar setting.
• Minimum 6 months in rehabilitative/restorative nursing practices.
• Previous long-term care experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the DON and ADON in overseeing daily nursing operations.
• Supervise professional and non-professional staff, ensuring quality care delivery.
• Manage unit staffing to maintain proper coverage and minimize overtime/agency use.
• Address resident and family concerns with professionalism and compassion.
• Provide coaching, progressive counseling, and disciplinary action as needed.
• Participate in care planning, discharge planning, and interdisciplinary team meetings.
• Oversee MDS completion and quality assurance initiatives.
• Teach, demonstrate, and evaluate nursing skills to support staff development.
• Assist with recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of nursing personnel.
• Attend committee meetings and contribute to facility-wide goals.
• Step into nursing responsibilities on weekends/holidays as needed.
