Job summary

South Port Square in Port Charlotte, FL is seeking an experienced RN Unit Manager to oversee nursing care on the shift, administer medications, document care, and respond to emergencies.

You will supervise direct care, coordinate with physicians and families, develop care plans, and ensure accurate records. The role includes overseeing staff orientation, performance, and ongoing education, with a Monday-Friday schedule.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• RN with a current license in Florida.
• At least 6 months experience in a long-term care setting.
• Supervisory experience.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, staff and visitors.
• Maintain confidentiality at all times.

Responsibilities

• Oversee nursing care on the shift and administer medications as needed.
• Supervise direct care staff and participate in shift reports.
• Ensure rounds are conducted and care is safe and thorough.
• Keep physicians and families informed about changes in residents.
• Develop comprehensive care plans and maintain records.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The RN Unit Manager is responsible for the overall nursing care/service on his/her shift, including the accurate and timely administration of medications, treatments, documentation and emergency calls, as indicated.

Here are a few of the daily responsibilities of a Registered Nurse Unit Manager:

• Supervises direct care of residents and nursing personnel on his/her shift.
• Administers direct care as necessary.
• Gives and receives shift reports.
• Rounds twice a shift to assure proper care is rendered in a safe and clean environment.
• Keeps physicians and families aware of changes in resident’s condition.
• Assists in developing comprehensive care plans.
• Maintains accurate documentation of all care rendered.
• Responds to resident emergency call system.
• Interfaces with other disciplines to assure continuity of care and services.
• Accompanies physicians when making rounds.
• Encourages restorative care in order to obtain maximum resident independence.
• Participates in family/resident counseling as necessary.
• Assists with the orientation and evaluation of nursing personnel.
• Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.
• Assures proper functioning of equipment and adequate supplies.
• Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Here are a few of the qualifications we need you to have:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. RN with a current license in Florida.
• At least 6 months experience in a long-term care setting.
• Supervisory experience.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Can generate a warm, friendly, and caring manner on first impression.
• Can communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, and visitors.
• Maintain the highest level of confidentiality.

Salary: $76,000
