RN Unit Manager Description:

The RN Unit Manager (registered nurse) will be responsible for staff management and coordination of nursing service activities during their shift, ensuring safe, efficient, and therapeutic patient care in accordance with facility policies. The RN Unit Manager will also liaise with other shifts for continuity of care and will assume leadership in the absence of the ADON and Director of Nursing.

RN Unit Manager Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Interpret facility policy and state law as related to nursing services.
2. Participate in facility safety procedures and programs.
3. Inform the ADON of nursing activities, needs, problems, and unusual events.
4. Recommend the purchase of supplies and equipment needed for nursing services.
5. Conduct routine checks on staff, timecards, equipment, and supplies.
6. Assist in hiring, promoting, suspending, and terminating nursing staff, and recommend actions to the ADON and Director of Nursing.
7. Support in-service education programs and evaluate their effectiveness, revising methods and materials as needed.
8. Investigate and report complaints.
9. In the absence of the charge nurse/assist charge nurse, oversee daily duties as assigned.
