Millington Healthcare Center is seeking a Registered Nurse to fill a management/leadership role as RN Unit Manager in a skilled nursing facility. The RN Unit Manager supports the DON with clinical operations, ensuring quality care, compliance, and positive outcomes while maintaining patient, family, and staff satisfaction on a designated shift.

The role is primarily Monday–Friday with rotating on-duty and on-call responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Tennessee.
• BLS/CPR certification.
• In-depth knowledge of nursing care methods and health and safety guidelines.
• Responsible and compassionate with outstanding organizational and communication skills.
• Experience supervising GNAs and LPNs in a nursing home setting.

Responsibilities

• Observe and monitor residents’ health and assess needs to provide quality care.
• Collaborate with physicians to create individual care plans and assist during procedures.
• Maintain healthcare records and reports (PCC) according to best practices.
• Supervise and train GNAs and LPNs on staff.
• Administer medications and provide emergency medical care when needed.
• Coordinate staffing coverage with DON and ensure timely services.
• Assess performance of nursing staff while on duty.
• Maintain a respectful, team-oriented environment for staff and patients.
• Monitor nursing care to reduce hospitalizations and improve outcomes.
• Review prospective admissions for nursing capability and readiness.

Position Summary

The RN Unit Manager serves as a clinical and operational liaison between units and the DON, ADON, medical director, and other nursing staff. He/she is responsible for the clinical operations of the Nursing Units including ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, practice standards and regulations. This is primarily Monday-Friday position, but with rotating Manager on duty and/or On-Call.

Responsibilities of the Registered Nurse (RN) Unit Manager

• Observe and monitor residents’ health and assess their needs to provide quality care
• Work with physicians to create individual care plans and assist them during required operations or procedures
• Maintain complete healthcare records and reports including PCC being utilized according to best practices.
• Supervise, manage, and assist in training LPN’s and GNA’s on staff
• Perform routine procedures as needed, including administering medication and injections, and provide emergency medical care when necessary
• Collaborates with DON in maintaining adequate staffing coverage
• Assess work performance of nursing staff while on duty ensuring timeliness in services to our patients/residents
• Maintain security of the facility, creating an environment that is respectful, team-oriented, and responsive to the needs of our staff, patients, and their families
• Monitoring nursing care to reduce hospitalizations and ensure positive outcomes.
• Reviews prospective Admissions in relation to existing nursing capabilities and ensures readiness to treat.
• Ensure that patient's attending physician and family or responsible party are promptly notified of any significant change in the patient health condition.
• Investigates patient/family complaints and takes appropriate actions to bring to resolution.

Requirements of the Registered Nurse (RN) Unit Manager
