Job summary

Capital Health Screening Centre in the United States seeks a registered nurse to deliver high-quality patient care across the unit using the nursing process. You will contribute to safety, pain management, discharge planning, and education for medications and care plans.

Responsibilities include coordinating with health care teams, leading in staffing decisions, and participating in performance improvement initiatives and Joint Commission readiness.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Previous nursing experience preferred.
  • AHA BLS - Healthcare Provider, Registered Nurse - NJ.
  • TNCC (or must obtain within 1 year of hire) and 8 hours of Trauma CNE if assigned to ICU/ETU etc.
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification (or by end of orientation) and 8 hours of Stroke CNE if assigned to Critical Care/ED/Neuro units.
  • ACLS (or obtain within 6 months for specified units).
  • NRP (or obtain within 6 months for maternity)
  • PALS (or obtain within 6 months for ED/pediatrics).
  • Knowledge and Skills: problem solving, interpersonal skills, communication, adaptability.
  • Special Training: nursing skills, hospital practices, standards.
  • Usual Work Day: 12 Hours

Responsibilities

  • Delivers quality care through nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation.
  • Ensures patient safety by following policies and procedures.
  • Supports pain management and informs patients/families about care.
  • Coordinates with other departments to follow up on interventions.
  • Allocates resources for complex cases to maximize patient participation in recovery.
  • Documents discharge planning to enable ongoing life activities.
  • Coordinates handoff and reports potential issues.
  • Promotes patient education for medication management and discharge instructions.
  • Participates in performance improvement and Joint Commission readiness.
  • Attends leadership and critical decision-making sessions.
  • Participates in committees and unit-wide initiatives.
  • Adjusts staffing patterns as needed and supports educational activities.
