Job summary

Misericordia is seeking a Registered Nurse Trainer to serve as the primary care nurse for a designated area, assess residents, and respond to medical needs.

You will lead the medication program, ensure Rule 116 compliance, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to promote best care practices. This full-time AM position requires RN licensure in Illinois and RN Trainer certification within 3 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing with official transcripts.
• Current Illinois Licensed Registered Nurse (RN).
• Good standing with the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation.
• Minimum one year of clinical RN experience within the last five years, preferably in Developmental Disabilities.
• Ability to complete RN Trainer Certification within 3 months of hire.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Proven initiative, responsibility, and ability to work with a team.
• Proficient with computers and EMR systems (Outlook, Excel, Word).

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary care nurse for a designated area and/or caseload, performing assessments and responding to emergencies.
• Communicate concerns to the medical provider, Director of Nursing, and Administration.
• Oversee residents' medical needs for your assigned area.
• Ensure medication administration policies are carried out by certified med passers and residents.
• Certify staff as certified med passers and maintain authorization documentation.
• Train and certify medication passers in accordance with Rule 116 requirements and address errors.
• Report med errors, near-misses, and compliance concerns to leadership.
• Provide in-services and training on EMR, new medication administration, Epi-pen use and cleaning, CPAP use.
• Meet with pharmacy monthly for checks and coordinate supplies.
• Complete SAMA assessments and annual health management ISPs as applicable.
• Ensure EMR compliance across caseload and area.
• Attend applicant pool meetings and RN Trainer meetings as needed.
