Job summary

Misericordia Heart of Mercy is seeking a CILA RN Trainer / Nurse Coordinator in Illinois to serve as the primary care nurse for a designated area, assessing residents and overseeing medical needs while training staff on medication administration.

Under RN Trainer Certification, you will ensure Rule 116 compliance, coordinate with pharmacy, lead staff development, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to promote best care practices.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.
• Active Illinois RN license in good standing.
• Minimum one year RN experience within the last five years.
• RN Trainer Certification to be completed within 3 months of hire.
• Experience in Developmental Disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary care nurse for designated area; assess and respond to emergencies.
• Communicate concerns to medical providers, DON, and Administration.
• Oversee residents' medical needs for assigned area.
• Ensure medication administration policies are followed by med passers and residents.
• Certify staff as med passers and maintain documentation and tests.
• Train and certify med passers per Rule 116; monitor and address medication errors.
• Report medication errors and compliance concerns to DON/AVP Nursing.
• Provide in-services and training for staff (e.g., EMR, Epi-pen, CPAP).
• Meet with pharmacy monthly for medication check-ins and coordinate totes with pharmacy.
• Complete SAMA assessments and RN annual health management ISPs as applicable.
• Ensure EMR compliance across caseload; attend applicant pool meetings.
• Participate in RN Trainer meetings and med cert classes if assigned.
• Work with multidisciplinary team to ensure best care practices.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional appearance; adhere to schedule.
• Perform other duties as assigned by nursing leadership.
