Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through AHA or Red Cross
  • One year of current acute care RN experience OR licensed military RN experience
  • Preferred BSN
  • ACLS Certification – if not held, obtain within one year of hire
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification – if not held, obtain within 30 days of hire

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments per nursing protocol.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
  • Educate patients and families, considering cultural issues and other concerns.
  • Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Maintain professional growth through ongoing education and study.
