Job summary

Union Plaza Care Center in Queens, NY seeks an RN Unit Manager for full-time day shift. You will support the DON/ADON, supervise staff, and oversee daily nursing operations to ensure high-quality care.

You will coordinate staffing, participate in care and discharge planning, and lead quality initiatives while mentoring staff and addressing family concerns. Weekend/holiday coverage may be required.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in New Jersey.
• 3+ years of supervisory experience in healthcare.
• Long-term care experience strongly preferred.
• Minimum 6 months’ rehabilitative/restorative nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Support the DON and ADON in overseeing daily nursing operations.
• Supervise professional and non-professional staff to ensure quality care.
• Manage unit staffing to maintain coverage and minimize overtime/agency use.
• Address resident and family concerns professionally and with empathy.
• Provide coaching, progressive counseling, and disciplinary actions as needed.
• Participate in care planning, discharge planning, and meetings with the interdisciplinary team.
• Oversee MDS completion and quality assurance initiatives.
• Teach and evaluate nursing skills to staff.
• Assist with recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of nursing personnel.
• Attend committee meetings and contribute to facility goals.
• Step into nursing duties on weekends/holidays as needed.
