Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking an experienced SICU nurse to provide direct patient care in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The role supports post-operative and critically ill surgical patients in the 14-bed SICU at UAB St.

Vincent's East with centralized monitoring and a strong emphasis on multidisciplinary collaboration. The position offers Full-Time Nights (3 12-hour shifts) and Part-Time Days (12-hour shifts on a 4 On/10 Off schedule), with benefits including paid time off, parental leave,

Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification obtained within 1 month (30 days) of hire or transfer date.
• Advanced Life Support (ALS) obtained within 6 months (180 days) of hire or transfer date.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans; monitor, record and communicate patient condition.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with the healthcare team.
