Job summary

UAB Medicine in Alabama is seeking an experienced registered nurse for the operating room. You will deliver professional nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures, assist surgeons, and manage perioperative patient care.

The role involves scrub and circulating duties, handling instruments, and preparing rooms, with a Monday–Friday schedule and location at UAB ST Vincent's Blount.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 30 days of hire, AHA/ARC accepted.
• RN licensed and credentialed by the Alabama Board of Nursing prior to hire.
• Diploma from an accredited nursing program.
• Minimum one year of RN experience.

Job Description

Deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.

• Perform scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure.
• Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.
• Directly assist operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing and wound exposure as well as patient positioning.
• Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Minimum Requirements:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND professional licensure at time of hire required. One year of RN Experience required
