Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking an ICU nurse for full-time night shifts (3 x 12-hour shifts, 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.) at UAB St. Clair.

The role provides direct nursing care within established policies, procedures, and protocols and requires coordination with multiple disciplines to ensure well‑coordinated patient care. Qualification includes a nursing diploma, Alabama RN license, BLS with 1 month, and ACLS within 6 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Diploma in nursing from an accredited program.
• Current Alabama RN license before hire date.
• BLS certification obtained within 1 month of hire date.
• ACLS certification obtained within 6 months of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care according to policies and protocols.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans; communicate patient condition.
• Coordinate care with all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Coordinate discharge planning with the healthcare team.

Job Description

Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

• Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.


• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.


• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.


• Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.


• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.


• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND Required professional licensure at time of hire.
