Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking an ICU nurse for the 1South Medical Intensive Care Unit at UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham. The role provides direct nursing care, coordinates multidisciplinary care, and supports discharge planning in a 18-bed unit with a collaborative leadership presence.

Requires Alabama RN licensure, BLS and ACLS, and a nursing diploma from an accredited program. Weekend nights and days mix with a schedule designed for full-time coverage.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
• Advanced Life Support within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND Required professional licensure at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

Our 1South ICU, which is also a Medical ICU, has 18 beds. We pride ourselves on team cohesiveness. All of the patient care supervisors are readily available M-F and leadership of all levels has a great presence daily. We are always accepting new graduates, everyone enjoys teaching, and no one is left to do things alone.
