Job summary

BayCare’s South Florida Baptist Hospital in Plant City, Florida, is seeking an RN for the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) on day shift. This full-time position requires an active RN license and a nursing degree, with BLS and ACLS certifications preferred, plus about 1 year of PCU experience.

The role emphasizes compassionate care, teamwork, and clinical excellence, with an on-site work setting and the standard 6:45 AM–7:15 PM shift and every-other-weekend schedule.

Qualifications

• RN license required.
• Diploma, Associate’s, Bachelor's or Higher in Nursing.
• Preferred: Bachelor's in Nursing.
• 1 year RN experience in the PCU in an Acute Care setting.
• BLS certification with the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
• ACLS certification with the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Care for PCU patients in a hospital setting using the nursing process and clinical standards.
• Delegate care activities to other health-care team members.
• Monitor and document patient vitals and progress throughout recovery.
• Respond to medical emergencies for critical patients.
• Coordinate discharge planning and referrals for continuity of care.

Requirements:

The Registered Nurse – PCU responsibilities and skills:

• Works in a hospital setting and independently cares for a group of PCU patients consistently using the nursing process and clinical standards
• Delegates appropriate patient care activities to other members of the health care team
• Care for patient needs throughout their recovery in critical care
• Monitor, record, and update care team on patient vitals and assessments.
• Identifying sudden or subtle changes in a patient’s medical condition
• Responding to medical emergencies for critical patients
• Coordinates and documents appropriate discharge planning and referrals to ensure continuity of care after discharge
• High emotional intelligence to create a positive patient care experience that includes simplifying medical terminology and concepts to the patient
