Job summary

BayCare Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) on the Nights shift in Lutz, Florida. The role requires RN licensure and a nursing degree, with 1 year of acute care experience preferred and BLS/ACLS certifications.

The PCU nurse will work in a hospital setting, provide patient-centered care, and participate in care coordination, discharge planning, and documentation, contributing to BayCare's commitment to clinical excellence.

Qualifications

• RN license required with Diploma/Associate/Bachelor in Nursing.
• 1 year RN experience in an Acute Care setting preferred.
• BLS certification (American Red Cross or American Heart Association).
• ACLS certification (American Heart Association) preferred; PCU experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Care for PCU patients using nursing process and clinical standards.
• Delegate appropriate patient care activities to health care team members.
• Monitor and document patient vitals and assessments.

• Status: Full Time

• Shift: 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM

• Every other weekend requirement

• On Call: No

Requirements:

• RN (Registered Nurse) License

• Diploma, Associate’s, Bachelor's or Higher in Nursing

• Preferred Education: Bachelor's in Nursing

• 1-year RN experience in an Acute Care setting

• BLS certification with the American Red Cross or American Heart Association

• ACLS certification with the American Heart Association

• Preferred experience - PCU experience

The Registered Nurse – PCU responsibilities and skills:

• Works in a hospital setting and independently cares for a group of PCU patients consistently using the nursing process and clinical standards

• Delegates appropriate patient care activities to other members of the health care team

• Care for patient needs throughout their recovery in critical care

• Monitor, record, and update care team on patient vitals and assessments.

• Identifying sudden or subtle changes in a patient’s medical condition

• Responding to medical emergencies for critical patients

• Coordinates and documents appropriate discharge planning and referrals to ensure continuity of care after discharge

• High emotional intelligence to create a positive patient care experience that includes simplifying medical terminology and concepts to the patient
