Job summary

BayCare Health System is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at St. Joseph's Hospital North, Lutz, Florida. This full-time, in-person position requires RN licensure and a nursing degree.

The role emphasizes compassionate patient care, clinical excellence, and collaboration with the healthcare team as patients progress toward discharge. Ideal candidates will have 1 year of Acute Care RN experience, BLS/ACLS credentials, and a BSN preferred.

Qualifications

• RN license required.
• Diploma, Associate’s, Bachelor’s or higher in Nursing.
• Preferred: BSN.
• 1 year RN experience in Acute Care.
• BLS and ACLS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for PCU patients using the nursing process.
• Delegate care activities to health team members as appropriate.
• Monitor patient vitals, respond to changes in condition.
• Ensure safe discharge planning and referrals.

• Status: Full Time
• Shift: 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM
• Every other weekend requirement
• On Call: No

Requirements

• RN (Registered Nurse) License
• Diploma, Associate’s, Bachelor's or Higher in Nursing
• Preferred Education: Bachelor's in Nursing
• 1-year RN experience in an Acute Care setting
• BLS certification with the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• ACLS certification with the American Heart Association
• Preferred experience - PCU experience

The Registered Nurse – PCU Responsibilities And Skills

• Works in a hospital setting and independently cares for a group of PCU patients consistently using the nursing process and clinical standards
• Delegates appropriate patient care activities to other members of the health care team
• Care for patient needs throughout their recovery in critical care
• Monitor, record, and update care team on patient vitals and assessments.
• Identifying sudden or subtle changes in a patient’s medical condition
• Responding to medical emergencies for critical patients
• Coordinates and documents appropriate discharge planning and referrals to ensure continuity of care after discharge
• High emotional intelligence to create a positive patient care experience that includes simplifying medical terminology and concepts to the patient
