Job summary

The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD is hiring for a full-time Nursing position in the Medical Progressive Care Unit (MPCU). The unit cares for critically ill adults on a high-acuity floor with 2:1 or 3:1 patient ratios and rotating shifts.

Requirements include an ADN (BSN preferred), active Maryland or Compact RN license, BLS CPR, and at least 6 months of PCU or Medical/Surgical experience. 36-hour weekly schedule with rotating 12-hour shifts.

The Medical Progressive Care Unit at The Johns Hopkins Hospital is a 21-bed high acuity step-down unit, caring for critically ill adult medical patients. Patient population includes those with complex organ disease, requiring mechanical ventilation, vasoactive drips, and continuous monitoring. Common medical diagnoses include sepsis, respiratory failure, GI bleed, liver failure, and DKA. This is a highly skilled floor, from which new staff will gain instrumental experience. Nurse to patient ratios are 2:1 or 3:1 depending on acuity. There is opportunity for growth on the MPCU, regardless of where you are in your career!

Qualifications
  • Minimum 6 mths recent PCU or M/S experience required
  • Active Maryland or Compact RN license is required at time of hire
  • BLS CPR required
  • Associate's Degree in nursing (ADN) (Required)
  • BSN (preferred) and applicants w/an ADN in nursing will be considered. Per nursing guidelines, must matriculate into a BSN program.

Salary Range: Minimum 36.07/hour - Maximum 54.28/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
