Job summary

Baptist Health Walker Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Intermediate Care Unit. This full-time, day shift position requires covering three 12-hour shifts weekly and delivering high-quality care in a fast-paced IMC environment.

The nurse will perform advanced nursing assessments, monitor cardiac and hemodynamic systems, coordinate care with the care team, and advocate for patients and families while adhering to regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
• Current Alabama RN license.
• BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
• At least 1 year RN experience.

Responsibilities

Days

Responsibilities

• Provides advanced nursing care for critically ill patients, including complex assessments, high-intensity interventions, and continuous monitoring.

• Uses clinical judgment and assessment data to anticipate, prioritize, and respond quickly to rapidly changing patient conditions.

• Operates and interprets specialized medical equipment and monitors, including cardiac, respiratory, and hemodynamic systems.

• Responds to emergencies with evidence-based, life-saving interventions and preplanned protocols when physicians are unavailable.

• Assesses patient needs, develops individualized care plans, evaluates outcomes, and advocates for patients and families.

• Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, serves in leadership or educational roles, and supports unit and hospital goals.

• Coordinates care, delegates appropriately, documents accurately, and ensures compliance with regulatory and evidence-based standards.

• Demonstrates compassionate, age-appropriate care while maintaining legal awareness, patient rights, and a therapeutic environment.

Qualifications

Education/Training

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing. Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Baptist Health unit/department.

Licensure/Certification

• Maintains current State of Alabama RN license.

• Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.

Experience

• Must have at least 1 year of RN experience.
