Job summary

Hospice of the Midwest in Edina, MN is seeking an On-Call Registered Nurse to join our compassionate team serving Edina and Monticello. The on-call shifts run 8:00 AM–8:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays on an alternating schedule, with ongoing support from our hospiceteam.

Responsibilities include urgent symptom assessment, hands-on care delivery, timely documentation, and collaboration with physicians. A MN nursing license, CPR, and a valid driver’s license are required; hospice experience is

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school with current licensure to practice in the state of operation.
• One year nursing experience required, 3+ years preferred.
• Experience in hospice or a similar setting preferred.
• Knowledge of the hospice philosophy of care.
• Commitment to clinical and documentation excellence.
• Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state requirements.
• Possess and maintain current CPR certification in states where required.

As a On-Call RN You will:

• (CHOOSE ONE: If office HAS a Remote Triage team) Collaborate with Remote Triage On Call Team to deliver hands-on care to hospice patients and offer supportive services to their families during after-hours, on an on-call basis
• (CHOOSE ONE: If office DOES NOT have Remote Triage) Deliver hands-on care to hospice patients and offer supportive services to their families during after-hours, on an on-call basis
• Assess and manage urgent symptoms quickly and compassionately
• Administer medication or adjust care based on hospice protocols or provider orders
• Communicate with the physician regarding changes in condition and obtain orders as necessary
• Offer guidance and support to the patient and family in understanding the current condition and anticipating the next steps
• If a death occurs during on-call hours, the RN will go to the home or facility to pronounce death, provide support to the family, contact the funeral home, and notify the hospice team
• Complete timely documentation and communication

Salary Range

USD $42.00 - $48.00 / Hour
