Summary:

As a Registered Nurse in our Emergency Department at CHRISTUS Spohn Shoreline Hospital, you will be a highly skilled and trained medical professional responsible for providing immediate and efficient care to patients experiencing life-threatening injuries or illnesses. ER Nurses must have a strong knowledge base in emergency medicine, critical care, and trauma care to deliver optimal patient care in emergency situations. The environment is fast-paced and high-stress, requiring quick assessment, stabilization, and treatment decision-making skills.

The role involves patient assessment, care planning, and delivering quality nursing care to an assigned patient group during a scheduled period. It includes supervising LVN/LPNs, nursing assistants, unit secretaries, and other staff. The position may also serve as charge nurse. Care is provided across a broad age range, including older adolescents, young adults, adults, geriatrics, and pediatrics.

CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi - Shoreline, overlooking Corpus Christi Bay, is the region's largest acute care facility, offering comprehensive diagnostic and surgical services in cardiac, cancer, and stroke care. It is the leading emergency facility with a Level II Trauma Center staffed by specialized physicians and nurses.

• The Pavilion and North Tower feature a state-of-the-art emergency department, ICU, Cardiac Cath Lab, and surgical suites.
• Affiliated with the Texas A&M University System Health and Science Center College of Medicine, serving as a teaching hospital.
• Accredited Chest Pain Center and Joint Commission Stroke Team.

Requirements:

Education/Skills

• Associate's Degree in Nursing

Experience

• One year of nursing experience preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• Current Texas State RN License or Compact RN License
• BLS (American Heart Association)
• ACLS required at hire for experienced RNs; new grads must obtain ACLS by the end of orientation.
• NIHSS required within 90 days of hire/transfer.
• De-escalation training required within 90 days of hire/transfer.
• TNCC required within 6 weeks for experienced RNs; new grads within 18 months.
• PALS required at hire for experienced RNs; new grads within the orientation period.
