Job Overview
The nurse practices independently within a clinical setting, providing routine and complex care while demonstrating awareness of all relevant aspects of patient care. The role involves developing long-term care plans, managing contingencies, and delegating tasks appropriately to care providers.
The unit focuses on general medical-surgical cases, including patients with non-surgical abdominal pain and less complicated post-surgical cases. It is a fast-paced environment that values teamwork and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Meet expectations of applicable competencies: Leader of Self, Others, or Leaders.
- Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
- Address psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
- Administer medications and treatments using appropriate protocols; monitor effects and side effects.
- Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided.
- Assess learning needs and educate patients, families, and caregivers.

- Develop and modify individualized care plans based on evidence-based practices.

Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of related nursing experience preferred.
- Current BLS certification required.
- RN license in the state of employment or a compact license.
