Job Overview

The medical-surgical unit is a 27-bed unit serving a diverse patient population from young adults to geriatrics. We aim to provide exemplary care using evidence-based practices and thorough discharge teaching to prevent readmissions. Our team is dedicated to extending the healing ministry of Jesus Christ to our patients.

Responsibilities
  • Meet expectations of applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Others, or Leaders.
  • Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
  • Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
  • Administer medications and treatments as per protocol; monitor for side effects and effectiveness.
  • Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided.
  • Assess learning needs and educate patients, families, and caregivers; identify issues and resources.
Core Competencies
  • Utilize critical thinking to assess physical, psychosocial, social, cultural, spiritual, and developmental needs.
  • Communicate findings effectively to healthcare team members.
  • Develop and modify care plans based on evidence-based practice.
