Job summary

UAB Medicine in Alabama is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department, coordinating care across disciplines and implementing physician orders.

The role requires active Alabama RN licensure with BLS/ACLS/PALS credentials and a Diploma in Nursing. Diverse shifts include full-time nights, evenings, and PRN coverage, all on site at UAB St. Vincent's St. Clair in Pell City.

Qualifications

• BLS/ACLS/PALS required within stated timeframes.
• Active Alabama RN license required at time of hire.
• Diploma in Nursing from an accredited program and licensure to practice in Alabama at hire date.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care per policy and protocol.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans; document patient status.
• Act as primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated care.
• Ensure physician and nursing orders are carried out and communicated.
• Assist with discharge planning in coordination with the healthcare team.

Job Description

Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

• Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• PALS Provider obtained within 6 months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND professional licensure at time of hire required.
  
  • For the Freestanding Emergency Room, a minimum of one (1) year of critical care or emergency experience is required.
