Job summary

UAB Medicine in Pell City, Alabama, seeks a Registered Nurse to deliver direct patient care in the Emergency Department. The role requires a nursing diploma and RN licensure, with BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications within specified timelines.

You will serve as a primary coordinator of patient care, monitor and communicate patient status, and collaborate with the healthcare team to plan discharge needs. This position is on-site with shifts including nights and evenings.

Qualifications

• Diploma in nursing and RN licensure required at time of hire.
• BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications required within specified timeframes.
• Minimum one year of critical care or emergency department experience recommended for certain ER settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care per policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans; document and communicate patient status.
• Coordinate care with all disciplines for well‑coordinated treatment.
• Record and carry out physician and nursing orders; assess discharge needs.

• Work Location: UAB St. Vincent's St. Clair - Pell City, Al

Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

• Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• PALS Provider obtained within 6 months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND professional licensure at time of hire required.
  
  • For the Freestanding Emergency Room, a minimum of one (1) year of critical care or emergency experience is required.
