Job summary

UAB Medicine seeks an experienced ER Registered Nurse for our Emergency Department located at UAB St. Vincent's St. Clair in Pell City, AL. Full-time night, evening, and PRN evening shifts available; positions include a dynamic team and fast-paced environment.

Provide direct patient care, coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, and support discharge planning under established policies. Must hold Alabama RN licensure and current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider required within 30 days of hire; ACLS within 6 months; PALS within 6 months.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credential from Alabama Board of Nursing required before hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care according to policies and protocols.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans; monitor and communicate patient condition.
• Act as primary coordinator of care across disciplines.

Job Description

Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

• Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• PALS Provider obtained within 6 months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND professional licensure at time of hire required.
  
  • For the Freestanding Emergency Room, a minimum of one (1) year of critical care or emergency experience is required.
