The Cardiovascular Stepdown Unit at UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham is an 8-bed stepdown unit providing care for patients recovering from cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgeries as well as heart catheterization procedures. We provide certain care techniques like telemetry monitoring and advanced post-operative management. This unit serves as a transitional step between CVICU and other acute care units, offering nurses a unique opportunity to develop their nursing skills and cardiovascular expertise.
Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
