Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide direct patient care on the Cardiac Stepdown unit (5 WEST) at UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham. Multiple shifts available including days, nights, and weekends. The role emphasizes care coordination across disciplines and discharge planning.

Required BLS within 30 days and Alabama RN licensure or eligibility. A diploma from an accredited nursing program is required at hire.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 30 days of hire date.
• RN licensure by Alabama Board of Nursing required or eligible.
• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing and licensure at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct nursing care in accordance with policies, procedures and protocols.
• Implements and monitors patient care plans; communicates patient condition to the team.
• Acts as primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
• Assesses and coordinates discharge planning needs with the healthcare team.

Job Description

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND professional licensure at time of hire required.
