Job summary

Firelands Health in Sandusky, Ohio, seeks a qualified RN to implement nursing care, follow physicians’ orders, and coordinate care to ensure safe discharge. You will monitor patients, document care plans, and communicate findings to the team.

The ideal candidate holds an Ohio RN license with CPR; ACLS, Basic EKG and PALS are required or completed within 6 months of hire. Excellent organization and computer skills are essential in a patient-centered environment.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current Ohio RN license with CPR prior to patient care.
• ACLS, Basic EKG and PALS required or obtained within 6 months of hire and kept current.
• Board certification preferred within 2 years in area of expertise.
• Strong organizational, customer service and computer skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Carry out the nursing process and physician orders per Firelands standards.
• Perform assessments and document care plans, reports to physicians as needed.
• Educate patients, staff and families about treatments and discharge plans.
• Respond to emergencies; maintain meds, supplies, and clean environment.
• Act as an ambassador for Firelands Health and patient advocacy.

What You Will Do:

• Implements the nursing process with patients including carrying out physicians orders regarding diet, medication and treatment in accordance with Firelands standards of care.
• Performs assessments; monitors and ensures quality care through observation and evaluation; documents nursing interventions on care plans, medical records, and reports findings to physicians as needed.
• Instructs patients, staff, and family members regarding treatments, nursing plans and related patient care directed towards a safe discharge.
• Responds to emergencies; maintains availability of medications and supplies; ensures cleanliness of equipment and environment.
• Demonstrate service excellence and acts as an ambassador and advocate for FRMC.

What You Will Need:

• Must have a current Ohio RN license and CPR prior to patient care experience.
• Current ACLS, Basic EKG, and PALS required or obtained within 6 months of hire and remain current.
• Board certification is preferred within 2 years in area of expertise.
• Excellent organizational, customer service skills, and computer proficiency are a must.
