Job summary

SoftPath Medical seeks an experienced RN for the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in the ER Holding Unit. You will monitor patients with diverse diagnoses, interpret telemetry, and document findings in charts. Travel experience preferred, with 24/7 RT support available for procedures and ABG management by request.

Expect weekend shifts, adherence to unit dress code, and department-wide orientation during the contract. Strong references from recent assignments are required.

Qualifications

Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Nurse - ER Holding Unit

Staffing Ratios

Ratio ranges from 1:4 to 1:5, adjustable based on patient acuity.

Position Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years recent PCU experience, or 1 year PCU combined with 1 year in Telemetry, ER, or ICU.
• Must have successfully completed at least one previous travel assignment.
• References should be from recent assignments.

Patient Population and Common Diagnoses

Typical patients include those with cardiac, neurological, orthopedic, and critical care needs.

Respiratory Therapy (RT) Support

• RT is available 24/7 in the ER holding unit but is not stationed within the ED; they respond promptly when needed.
• RT performs arterial blood gases (ABGs) and breathing treatments upon request.
• RT manages ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow devices, and other respiratory equipment; RNs are only required to troubleshoot these devices.

Monitoring and Diagnostics

• Spacelabs monitors are used; RNs must interpret their own telemetry strips and save them into patient charts.
• X-ray and CT imaging are available within the ER, with dedicated techs handling patient transport to and from imaging.
• No phlebotomy services are provided in the ER; RNs do not draw labs.
• Transport technicians work until 10:00 PM only.

Scheduling and Dress Code

• Weekend shifts are required every other weekend.
• Holiday shifts are assigned based on department needs.
• There is no on-call or standby requirement.
• Scrub color is navy.

Orientation

Department-specific orientation is provided during the first week of the contract.
