Job summary

Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Richmond seeks a RN PreOp/PACU to ensure safe, high-quality care for patients before and after surgery. The role emphasizes vigilant patient monitoring, continuity of care, and collaboration with anesthesia and surgical teams.

Responsibilities include assisting in the procedure areas, maintaining sterile technique, and delivering comprehensive care to patients waking from anesthesia, with discharge planning.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing.
• Active RN license in the state.
• BLS and ACLS Required, PALS if required by the center.
• 2 years of experience in PACU or Critical Care preferred.
• Ability to make decisions based on nursing judgment.
• Able to prioritize and organize workload to meet patient and unit needs.
• Strong communication skills, verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuity and quality nursing care for all patients, with continual evaluation of the patient's condition and safety.
• May assist physicians in procedure rooms with tasks, including conscious sedation, and sterile techniques as appropriate.
• Provide total comprehensive patient care to patients emerging from general anesthesia and/or sedation; assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care in preparation for discharge.
