Job summary

Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Richmond is seeking a RN PreOp/PACU to provide continuous and quality nursing care for patients before and after anesthesia. You will monitor patient status, ensure safety and comfort, and support families through the perioperative process.

The role may involve assisting physicians in procedure rooms with conscious sedation and sterile techniques. Schedule is primarily weekdays with occasional early mornings or evenings, and one weekend day per month.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited RN school of nursing.
• Active RN license in the state.
• BLS and ACLS required, PALS if required by the center.
• 2 years of experience in PACU or Critical Care preferred.
• Ability to make decisions based on nursing judgment.
• Able to prioritize and organize workload to meet patient/unit needs.
• Strong communication skills, verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuity and quality nursing care with continual evaluation of patient condition.
• Ensure safety, comfort, and privacy throughout care.
• Assist physicians in procedure rooms with conscious sedation and sterile technique as appropriate.
• Provide comprehensive care to patients emerging from anesthesia/sedation (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation).
