Job summary

SCA Health is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) in PreOp PACU to support anesthesia care and patient recovery. The role includes assessing patients, applying discharge criteria, and coordinating post-anesthesia plans with the care team.

The nurse will implement individualized perianesthesia care, monitor vitals, manage pain, and educate patients and families. It is a full-time opportunity with competitive benefits in a mission-driven organization.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
• One year of Pre Operative or PACU experience required.
• Current state licensure to practice.
• BLS/BCLS within 90 days of employment.
• ACLS within 90 days of employment.
• PALS if pediatric care is included within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCA Health.
• Assess patients’ preoperative and postoperative status per facility policies.
• Interpret information from monitors and describe pathophysiology of disease processes.
• Apply discharge criteria and transfer plans per policy.
• Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care.
• Provide recovery management for anesthesia – general, MAC, regional, or local.
• Protect patient from injury and ensure wound and tissue perfusion integrity.
• Communicate patient status throughout perianesthesia care.
• Administer medications safely using the 8-rights of medication administration.
• Provide education and involve family in care decisions.
• Complete hand-off reports and document care accurately.
• Participate in quality improvement and performance initiatives.
