Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a registered nurse for full-time day or night shifts in a 24-bed post-surgical bariatric unit. The role focuses on post-operative Bariatric care, including gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy recovery, with a 24-bed unit and multi-disciplinary coordination.

Responsibilities include direct nursing care, care plan implementation and discharge planning. Requirements include BLS within 1 month and RN licensure (or eligibility) by the Alabama Board of Nursing.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 1 Month of hire (30 days) required.
• Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans; monitor, record and communicate patient condition.
• Serve as primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with the healthcare team.
