Job summary

SCA Health is hiring a Registered Nurse Pre-Assessment Testing in Melbourne, FL to promote safe, patient-centered perioperative care across the perianesthesia continuum. You will develop individualized care plans, review preoperative data, educate patients, and collaborate with surgical teams to ensure seamless care transitions.

The role requires nursing licensure, 1 year of relevant experience, BLS/BCLS within 90 days and ACLS/PALS as applicable, with specialty perioperative certification

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
• At least 1 year of pre-op, PACU, or medical/surgical nursing experience.
• Current state nursing license in good standing.
• BLS/BCLS within 90 days of hire; ACLS within 90 days; PALS if pediatric care is included.
• Perioperative or perianaesthesia nursing certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promote the mission, vision and values of SCA Health.
• Describe the underlying pathophysiology of commonly encountered diseases.
• Describe physiology related to anesthesia techniques and perioperative interventions.
• Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care and communicate status across the perioperative continuum.
• Review preoperative data and notify physicians of abnormal or incomplete results.
• Serve as initial contact for referrals for screening and clearance.
• Educate patients on medications to be taken on the day of surgery.
• Operate equipment safely and report unsafe conditions.
• Provide patient advocacy and maintain privacy and confidentiality.
• Adhere to Universal Protocol and time-out policy; maintain documented care.
• Perform hand-offs concisely with the team and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

Education

Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing

One year of pre-op, PACU, and/or medical/surgical nursing experience

Current state licensure to practice in good standing

BLS/BCLS certification within 90 days of employment

ACLS certification within 90 days of employment

PALS certification within 90 days if pediatric care is included

Specialty certification in Perioperative or perianaesthesia Nursing preferred
