Shift: 3x12 Nights.
Floating will be required for this position. Travel may be to similar units or to other facilities. Weekend coverage: every other weekend, but may vary based on unit needs. Medication system: Omnicell. Required skills include administration of blood and blood products, anti-seizure medications, assistance with lumbar puncture, and breastfeeding support. Central line and implanted line care are required. Feeding support (bottle, breast, gavage) is expected. Experience managing conditions such as fractures, hyperbilirubinemia, and seizure disorders is beneficial. Must perform insulin administration, manage dysrhythmias, and perform NG tube insertion and management. Oral and nasal suctioning, along with oxygen delivery systems, is necessary. Pediatric dosage calculations are required. Telemetry monitoring and starting/maintaining IVs are part of the responsibilities. Daily patient census includes neonates, infants, and pediatric patients. The unit consists of 10 rooms and 9 beds. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy. Pediatric unit patient diagnoses include various conditions that necessitate specialized care. Travelers must complete modules and pre-assignment testing as required for compliance. Staffing is typically managed to maintain patient ratios of 2 patients per nurse on days and nights, and weekends. Floating will involve only areas where staff are qualified and have documented competencies.
