Job summary

Cynet HealthStaff is seeking a traveling RN for a PCU/Acuity Adaptable Unit with 13 weeks duration. The assignment requires ICU-trained, ACLS/BLS certified nurses comfortable with telemetry, drips, and complex cardiac cases.

The unit has 18 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios varying; RNs may float to med/surg or inpatient rehab. Healthcare staff participate in self-scheduling, and weekends/holidays are required during the assignment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Titrate drips and monitor telemetry rhythms.
• Manage acutely ill patients in Acuity Adaptable Unit.
• Collaborate with ICU/IMC for patient care; float as needed.
• Self-scheduling and block scheduling accommodated.
• Weekends: 3–4 shifts in 4 weeks; holidays as required.

Description:The hospital is seeking travelers for an Acuity Adaptable Unit.ICU trained nurses or IMC/PCU stepdown nurses are accepted.The unit has a total of 18 beds.Nurse-to-patient ratios vary, with an ICU level of 2:1 and an IMC level of 3:1 or 4:1.All nurses are required to have BLS and ACLS certifications.Common diagnoses include cardiac issues, stroke, respiratory failure, DKA, and sepsis.RNs will be required to titrate drips.There is a Charge Nurse on each shift, who is ICU trained and acts as the Rapid Response Nurse.Charge Nurses are ideally not included in staffing assignments.Patient care techs are available depending on census, with generally one tech per shift.The hospitalist is in-house 24/7, but is not located in the ICU.RNs are expected to provide basic oral care and have knowledge of respiratory devices, including vents, CPAP, and BiPap, as well as troubleshooting.There is a central monitoring station within the unit, and RNs are required to analyze rhythms.Self-scheduling and block scheduling are accommodated.Weekend requirements include 3-4 shifts within a 4-week period.Two summer and two winter holidays are required during the assignment.No call or standby requirements are necessary.Floating may occur within the hospital to med/surg or inpatient rehab units.The dress code is navy scrubs.There are two unit-specific orientation shifts.Cancellation policy allows for potential call-offs up to 36 hours during the assignment with prior notice.Charting is done using an electronic system.
