Job summary

ARMStaffing is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Progressive Care/Telemetry unit in Newton, New Jersey. This is a 13-week contract position with day shift coverage (7a-7p) and potential rotation to night shifts (7p-7a).

Up to three shifts per week may be required. The RN will conduct comprehensive assessments, document care plans, and coordinate with the care team to support adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of Cardiac/Telemetry nursing experience.
• 1-2 years in Acute Care settings.
• Basic dysrhythmia experience required.

Responsibilities

• Collect health history and complete admission assessments.
• Notify necessary consults based on admission criteria.
• Perform Braden Scale assessments and reassess patients' needs continually.
• Develop and implement individualized plans of care with input from patients and families.
• Document patient responses to nursing interventions and ensure proper communication of care needs.
• Provide education and support to patients and families using appropriate teaching methods.
• Coordinate discharge planning in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
• Transcribe orders accurately and manage telemetry monitoring.
• Initiate appropriate nursing actions including chest pain protocols.
• Monitor and manage patients on high-risk intravenous cardiac drugs.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care/Telemetry unit is responsible for collecting comprehensive health history data from patients, families, and significant others. This includes reviewing previous medical records and employing effective communication techniques suited for adolescent, adult, or geriatric populations. The RN will complete admission assessments within the acceptable time frame and notify consults when admitting criteria is met.

The position involves conducting Braden Scale assessments, reassessing patients' developmental, biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, educational, and discharge needs. An individualized, age-appropriate plan of care will be created in collaboration with patients, families, and caregivers, emphasizing safety, education, and a healing environment. The RN will regularly update and revise care plans based on patient status changes.

The role requires recognizing interventions needed to achieve outcomes and documenting these actions effectively, complying with all regulatory requirements. Interdisciplinary coordination is essential in managing patient care, including accurate telemetry leads application and monitoring. The RN will initiate chest pain protocols and manage patients on high-risk intravenous cardiac drugs.

Required Experience

• 1-2 years of experience in Cardiac/Telemetry nursing.
• 1-2 years in Acute Care settings.
• Basic dysrhythmia experience required.

Certifications/Licensure

• Valid New Jersey RN License required.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• PCCN certification preferred.
• BSN preferred or enrolled in a BSN program.
