Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL, is seeking an experienced nurse to lead daily shift operations for the Center for Patient Flow. You will ensure staffing aligns with patient volume, oversee transfer center and bed assignments, and collaborate with physicians, NRC, unit charge RNs, and nurse managers to place patients promptly and safely.

This role emphasizes regulatory compliance, documentation review, and guiding corrective actions with leadership.

Qualifications

• RN licensure by the Alabama Board of Nursing is required.
• BLS certification is required or must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
• ACLS and/or PALS may be required depending on the unit/department.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily shift operations of the Center for Patient Flow and ensure appropriate staff assignments.
• Direct resource allocation and supervise transfer center and bed assignment processes.
• Serve as a clinical resource, collaborating with physicians, NRC, unit charge RNs, nurse managers, and outside agencies.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, review documentation, identify vulnerabilities, and develop corrective action plans.
