Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL, seeks a Nursing leader to manage daily operations in the Main Operating Room. The role oversees staffing, budgets, compliance, and interdepartmental coordination to support high-quality patient care.

The candidate will drive departmental goals, supervise staff performance, and ensure smooth daily surgery scheduling while adapting to emergencies and census changes.

Qualifications

• Oversees daily operations of the assigned area.
• Develops departmental goals aligned with organizational strategy.
• Coordinates patient care with staff, physicians and other departments.
• Manages staff relations including performance, satisfaction and conflict; may oversee scheduling, recruitment and payroll.
• Monitors budgets, regulatory compliance, contracts and vendor relations; ensures supplies and equipment are available.
• Manages daily surgery schedule and communicates with all disciplines.
• Plans and prioritizes daily activities and adjusts staffing for emergencies or census shifts.

Responsibilities

• Daily operations management for the assigned area.
