Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare is seeking a Level II Registered Nurse to provide competent, patient-centered care across assigned units at Mary Washington Hospital and Stafford Hospital locations. The RN will lead care using the nursing process and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to improve outcomes.

Responsibilities include coordinating patient care, discharging planning, communicating plans with the team, and participating in quality improvement initiatives, staff orientation, and policy

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Valid RN License from Virginia or reciprocal compact state.
• BSN is preferred.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
• NIHSS (Bluecloud) required at hire.
• Additional certifications will be required according to the assigned unit.
• 2 years of recent RN acute care experience required.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate nursing care, including oversight of licensed and unlicensed personnel using the nursing process and teamwork to achieve outcomes.
• Coordinate involvement of patient, family and health team members in care, including discharge planning.
• Communicate and coordinate the plan of care with health team members.
• Assist Leadership to define standards of excellence for patient care; participate in improvement of patient care services.
• Participate in quality improvement activities and performance improvement initiatives.
• Participate in orientation of new permanent and temporary staff members.
• Act as point of contact on hospital and departmental policies and procedures for nurses and staff.
• Participate in daily operational activities necessary for safe patient/staff environment.
• Provide input to the Nurse Manager regarding unit needs.
• Participate in committees for nursing and hospital policy development.
• Provide for the physical, mental and social well-being of individuals and families by assessing and planning care.
• Performs comprehensive assessment and develops the plan of care at admission and during home visits.
• Provide education to patients and caregivers related to the plan of care.
• When assigned, serve as case manager coordinating multidisciplinary services.
• Maintain acceptable productivity as determined by leadership.
• Engage in multi-disciplinary meetings to share information and aid patient management.
