Job summary

Union Health in Terre Haute, IN is seeking a PRN (on-call) Evening RN to join the 3EA surgical unit (Orthopedics/Joint Replacement, Spine, Urology). The unit emphasizes education, safety, and patient-centered care, with a focus on post-operative recovery, wound care, and rapid turnover.

You will collaborate with physicians and managers, participate in preceptor-led orientation for new grads, and support patient education.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited ASN or BSN program.
• Must have Indiana RN license and BLS certification.
• Previous RN experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide postoperative care from admission to discharge.
• Care for CVADs, midlines, and PICC lines.
• Wound care and wound VAC management.
• Assist with ortho, spine, brain, and urology surgeries.
• Administer blood products and manage drains.

Our ONU RN’s play a key role in providing the highest quality of patient care while the patient is in at Union Health. 3EA is a surgical unit specializing in the care of patients who have undergone total joint replacement surgery, fractures that may or may not need surgical intervention, spine, and urology surgeries. This unit includes the Total Joint Replacement Center. 3EA is dedicated to providing comprehensive education to ensure the best possible recovery at home.

This unit is led by Nursing Care Manager, Amanda Barnett. She has been with Union Health since 1997 and has been leading this unit since 2012.

Essential & valuable nursing skills gained on this unit :

• Care of the surgical patient post-operative to discharge
• Care of CVAD, Midlines, and PICC lines
• Wound vac and wound care
• Nasogastric tube insertion and maintenance
• Care of orthopedic patients
• Care of brain and spine surgeries
• Care of any urological patients
• Foley insertion and care of CBI
• JP, Hemovac, and Accordian drain care and maintenance
• Blood product administration

• Assists with patient education to promote self-care and patient independence.
• Follows company policies and procedures and department protocols.
• Assists the physician with special procedures.

Qualifications:

• Graduate from an accredited ASN or BSN program
• Must have Indiana RN license
• PreviousRN experience preferred

License/Certification :

• BLS certification
• IN RN license
