Job summary

Union Health is seeking a Surgical Oncology RN for a part-time day shift (7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.) in Terre Haute, IN. The role emphasizes post-operative surgical care, CVAD/PICC management, wound and ostomy care, and chemotherapy administration within a Magnet-designated oncology environment.

You will work under Nursing Care Manager with emphasis on patient education, safety, and adherence to policies while supporting new graduates and the oncology care team.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited ASN or BSN program.
• Must have Indiana RN license.
• Previous RN experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with the physician or manager to determine needs of patients.
• Completes the routine physical assessment using common assessment skills in a systematic manner.
• Contributes to plan of care for pre-defined patient problems.
• Respects patients' rights, including the right to informed consent, privacy, confidentiality, and the right to refuse care.
• Assists with patient education to promote self-care and patient independence.
• Follows hospital policies and department procedures.
• Assists the physician with special procedures.

The Surgical Oncology RN’s plays a key role in providing the highest quality of patient care while the patient is in at Union Health. 3ec provides care of patients after general surgery, and also provides care of cancer patients undergoing treatment or experiencing diagnosis related concerns.

This unit is led by Nursing Care Manager, Jennifer Meyer. She has been with Union Health since 2009 and has been leading this unit since 2017.
