Job summary

Carlin Springs Health & Rehabilitation Center in Arlington, VA is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) Unit Manager to lead the day-to-day clinical operations of an assigned nursing unit and ensure residents receive safe, compassionate care.

The Unit Manager will supervise RNs, LPNs, and CNAs, review care plans, coordinate with physicians and families, and drive quality assurance and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Current Virginia RN license.
• Long-term care/skilled nursing experience preferred.
• Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership and oversight for the assigned nursing unit.
• Supervise and support nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs.
• Ensure residents receive quality care per individualized care plans.
• Monitor residents' conditions and address changes promptly.
• Coordinate with physicians, residents, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
• Participate in admissions, assessments, care planning, and discharge planning.
• Monitor staff performance and provide coaching and support as needed.

Registered Nurse (RN) – Unit Manager

Carlin Springs Health & Rehabilitation Center | Arlington, VA

Salary: $90,000–$95,000 per year based on experience

Carlin Springs Health & Rehabilitation Center is seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) Unit Manager to join our leadership team. The Unit Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day clinical operations of an assigned nursing unit while ensuring residents receive safe, compassionate, and high-quality care.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership and oversight for the assigned nursing unit
• Supervise and support nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs
• Ensure residents receive quality care in accordance with their individualized care plans
• Monitor residents' conditions and ensure changes are identified and addressed appropriately
• Review documentation, physician orders, care plans, and other clinical records
• Coordinate with physicians, residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members
• Participate in admissions, assessments, care planning, and discharge planning
• Monitor staff performance and provide coaching and support as neededAssist with staffing, scheduling, and maintaining appropriate coverage for the unit
• Ensure compliance with facility policies, state and federal regulations, and quality standards
• Assist with quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives
• Promote teamwork and a positive work environment
• Address resident and family concerns professionally and promptly
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents
• Provide support and leadership to the nursing team during daily operations

Qualifications

• Current and valid Virginia Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Long-term care/skilled nursing experience preferred
• Previous nursing leadership or supervisory experience preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to lead, coach, and motivate a nursing team
• Knowledge of long-term care regulations and nursing standards
• Strong commitment to quality resident care
